We have great pleasure to inform you that COSMO 2008 Energy Efficiency Conference (COSMO 2008 EEC) will be held in Skopje, Macedonia, from 16th to 17th May, 2008 year. "Manage Energy Efficient Economy and Improve Environment Quality" is the title of the conference this year. Business, industry and government organizations have all been under tremendous economic and environmental pressures in the last few years. Being economically competitive in the global marketplace and meeting increasing environmental standards to reduce air and water pollution have been the major driving factors in most of the recent operational cost and capital cost investment decisions for all organizations. Energy Efficiency Management has been an important tool to help organizations meet these critical objectives for their short term survival and long-term success. Several important European initiatives provide a framework for rapid market development as well as the requirement to act: among them, the directive on "Energy Efficiency and Energy Services" which requires National Energy Efficiency Action Plans as well as the recent decision of the European Council to improve energy efficiency by 20 % until 2020. Therefore, in all member states, but also in candidate states as Macedonia, strategies and programmes are currently under preparation to help companies, private households and public bodies to decrease their energy costs. The COSMO 2008 Energy Efficiency Conference will address economic, technical, political, legal and institutional questions relating to energy efficiency, with a special focus on how public bodies, private households and businesses can reduce their energy costs and profit economically and at the same time protect the environment and the climate.
The Energy Efficiency impact on economy and
environment and stimulation of the energy services for the private
and public sector is a priority of the CОSМО 2008 Energy
Efficiency Conference. The conference is a place where over 150
representatives of the public sector, small and medium enterprises
from the Republic of Macedonia and the region, as well as experts
from EU will meet. The conference consists of an educative part, as
well as a discussion forum and workshop for exchanging knowledge,
experiences and ideas for technical, economic and legal issues which
are a challenge for the future of the energy services in new
